Fastest-Growing Beverage Flavor Profiles

A research format for tracking which profiles are gaining launch share across beverage subcategories.

By Priya Raman, Product Developer1 min read

Which beverage flavors are growing fastest?

This report tracks what share of new drink launches each flavor accounts for, quarter by quarter — so you can see what is rising, not just what is already big.

Demonstration data

The figures in this report are structural placeholders, not measurements. The methodology and data model are real and describe how the report will be produced; the numbers are marked as pending until the tracking is populated.

What this report measures

Launch share, not sales. A profile can be small in absolute volume and growing rapidly in the proportion of new products that use it, and for a development team deciding what to work on next, the second number is the more useful one.

Sales data tells you what worked two years ago. Launch data tells you what a large number of development teams independently concluded was worth betting on.

Methodology

Distinct new SKUs are counted by characterizing flavor profile within each tracked beverage subcategory, per quarter. Share is calculated within subcategory rather than across the whole category, so that a subcategory with a high launch rate does not dominate the result.

Line extensions are counted; pack-size and format variants of an existing flavor are not. Profiles below five launches in a quarter are grouped rather than reported individually, to avoid reading noise as signal.

How to read it when populated

Two columns matter more than the headline share: the quarter-over-quarter change, and the number of distinct brands rather than distinct SKUs. A profile whose growth comes from one brand launching six variants is a company strategy. A profile whose growth comes from twelve brands launching one each is a trend.

Methodology

Launch-share analysis across tracked beverage subcategories, counting distinct new SKUs by characterizing flavor profile per quarter. Share is calculated within subcategory to control for differing launch volumes. Profiles appearing in fewer than five launches in a quarter are grouped as long tail.
